Great Fire Of London

Session 1: Site tour of Tudor / Stuart wooden and thatch buildings. To gain sense of how buildings looked, were used in Stuart London and why they were vulnerable to fire.

Session 2: Explore the events of the Fire of London through the words of Samuel Pepys, using the medium of drama and hot seating.

Session 3: What burns? Why did London burn? Explore materials as they burn, discover what is needed for fire.

Session 4: Music and dance from the period (maypole dancing).

Session 5: Create your own firescape in pastels, chalk and black paper.
